Concrete Lifting & Soil Stabilization in Krum, TX
Fast, Affordable Poly Foam Leveling for Homes & Businesses
Krum started as a railroad town. The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway bought land from the Finley family in 1886 to lay out the town site, about seven miles northwest of Denton (Denton County Historical Commission). Farmers here grew so much wheat on the prairie soil that Krum was once called the largest inland grain market in the world (Denton Record-Chronicle).
That same rich, heavy soil is what moves concrete around today. PolyFix lifts sunken driveways, walks, patios and steps back to level with polyurethane foam. We drill a few small holes, inject foam under the slab, and raise it. Most jobs take one to two hours, and you can use the concrete the same day.
The soil scientists at USDA picked Denton County as the home base for the Sanger soil series. It’s clay or silty clay all the way down, formed from old marine sediments, and it’s common across the Grand Prairie of north-central Texas. When it dries out, it opens cracks 1 to 3 inches wide that run more than 20 inches deep (USDA NRCS).
Think about what that means for a 4-inch driveway sitting on top. In a wet spring the clay swells and pushes up. In a dry August it shrinks and pulls away, and the slab loses support in spots. Rain then runs into those cracks and carries fine soil off with it. After a few years of that, one panel sits lower than the next, the walk tips toward the house, or the patio holds a puddle.
Krum isn’t a farm town anymore. The 2020 census counted 5,483 people, up from 4,157 in 2010 (Wikipedia). Neighborhoods like Hopkins Meadows, Fowler Farm and Brisa Meadows were approved in just a couple of years (Denton Record-Chronicle).
So we see two kinds of problems here:
The City of Krum Public Works Department is at 410 N. First Street. The main number is 940-482-3491, and stormwater emergencies go to 940-300-6181 (City of Krum). If the sunken concrete is part of a city street, a drainage structure or other public property, call them first.
Your driveway, garage floor, walks, steps, porch and patio are yours, and that’s the work we do. We also lift slabs for small businesses, churches and property managers.
Our foam is lightweight, so it doesn’t load down soft clay the way a heavy fill would. Every job comes with a 2-year warranty, residential and commercial. Financing is available through GreenSky.
“I had a very uneven sidewalk. There were areas that were higher than others. Most were caused be tree roots. Many companies would not do this job because it is too small. However, PolyFix made an appointment and arrived on time… The whole process took about an hour and the results are great.”

Clear answers to common questions from homeowners and businesses in Krum.
Q. Why does my driveway sink worse in summer?
Clay shrinks when it dries out. In a long hot spell the soil under the slab pulls back and leaves gaps, so the concrete has less to sit on. Keeping water flowing away from the slab helps a lot.
Q. Will the foam hold up in clay that keeps moving?
The foam fills the voids and spreads the load, and it doesn’t wash out. Clay will still swell and shrink with the weather, so we seal the joints and point out downspouts or drainage that are making it worse.
Q. Can you fix a lip at the garage door?
Usually, yes. We lift the driveway panel back up to meet the garage floor so the lip goes away and water runs away from the door.
Q. Is lifting cheaper than tearing it out?
In most cases, yes. Lifting can save up to 70% compared with replacement, and there’s no tear-out mess or waiting for new concrete to cure.
Q. What causes concrete to sink or become uneven?
Concrete sinks when the soil underneath weakens from erosion, poor compaction, plumbing leaks, tree roots, or water washout. As the soil drops, the slab follows. PolyFix restores the slab by lifting it back to level using high-strength polyurethane foam.
Q. Is concrete leveling better than mudjacking?
Yes. Polyurethane foam is lighter, stronger, and lasts longer than mudjacking material. It lifts the slab without adding heavy weight to already weak soil. Foam also cures quickly, allowing your concrete to be used the same day. These are just some of the many reasons PolyFix only uses advanced poly foam concrete leveling for our customers.
Q. What causes voids under concrete?
Voids form from erosion, drainage issues, plumbing leaks, poor compaction, or washout. Once the base weakens, the slab begins sinking. We provide long-lasting void filling to repair the problem. Learn more about our expert void filling.
Q. How long does concrete leveling take?
Most concrete leveling jobs take only 1–2 hours, and areas like driveways, garage floors, sidewalks, and patios are ready for use the same day. Read more in our Concrete Leveling Process.
Q. Will polyurethane foam break down over time?
No. Polyurethane foam does not shrink, rot, or wash out. It is moisture-resistant, chemically stable, and designed to permanently stabilize soil under driveways, sidewalks, patios, pool decks, garage floors, and commercial slabs for a long-lasting concrete repair.
Q. Is polyurethane foam safe for my home?
Yes. Our HMI polyurethane foam is environmentally friendly, durable, and ideal for concrete raising and stabilization. It is cleaner, lighter, and longer lasting than mudjacking making it the greener choice.
Q. How soon can I use my concrete after leveling?
Most surfaces can be used almost immediately after the lift. Driveways, walkways, patios, and warehouse slabs typically return to normal use the same day.
