THE PROBLEM
A property owner in Denton County contacted PolyFix after noticing a raised edge between sidewalk panels that had become a serious trip hazard.
The height difference had gradually worsened over time, especially after seasonal soil movement and periods of heavy rain followed by drought conditions.
Uneven sidewalks are more than just an appearance issue — they can create liability concerns and increase the risk of injuries for family members, guests, and pedestrians.
The goal was to:
- Remove the sidewalk trip hazard
- Restore safe walking conditions
- Avoid replacing multiple sidewalk panels
- Complete the repair quickly
- Improve the appearance of the walkway
OUR 3-STEP CONCRETE LIFTING PROCESS

1 Drill
Small holes were drilled into the affected sidewalk panels to allow access beneath the slab.
2 Pump
Polyurethane foam was carefully injected below the concrete. The foam expanded underneath the slab, filling voids and lifting the uneven sidewalk back into alignment.
3 Patch
Once the sidewalk was level, the drill holes were patched neatly and the walkway was cleaned up for immediate use.
The process required no large demolition equipment and caused very little disruption to the property.
THE RESULT
The uneven sidewalk edge was successfully corrected in only a few hours.
The dangerous height difference between panels was eliminated, creating a safer walking surface while preserving the existing concrete.
The homeowner avoided the time and expense of replacing the sidewalk entirely.
Benefits of the repair included:
- Safer walkway conditions
- Improved appearance
- Immediate usability
- No lengthy construction process
- Long-lasting slab stabilization
WHY SIDEWALKS SHIFT IN DENTON COUNTY
Denton County soil conditions can create major movement beneath sidewalks and walkways. Clay-heavy soils expand when wet and shrink during dry periods.
Over time, this constant movement causes slabs to shift, settle, or rise unevenly.
Water intrusion and poor drainage can also weaken support beneath the concrete and create empty spaces below the slab.
Our polyurethane lifting process addresses the underlying support problem — helping stabilize the sidewalk while restoring a safer surface above.
